Frontpage downloaded two million times!Birdphoto.fi keeps getting new friends

Birdphoto.fi website was established three years ago by four Finnish wildlife photographers. On 30 September 2006 the website had reached its first million visitors milestone. The number of frontpage downloads had grown steadily during the first three years.
Now in March 2008 the frontpage has been downloaded two million times! And this second million in just over a year. Our webhotel counter counted more than 2,4 million visitors over the same period of time! A lot of visitors pass frontpage altogether and go directly to an inside page, for example when a search engine takes them straight to specific species. Most of the growth comes from visits outside Finland. Editors and publishers from all over the world are using our website on a regular basis. The website is in Finnish and English, but picture search is also possible using French, Swedish, German and scientific names. At the moment there are over 19,000 pictures of 456 species, mainly European birds. New images are uploaded regularly, and we are constantly looking for ways to improve the website.
